Document Description
DWR Staff will refurbish the Hydraulic Pump Unit (HPU) System for the 48-inch butterfly valve (BFV) associated with the Bethany Forebay Dam outlet works. Various mechanical components will be replaced/repaired inside the control building, within outlet works tunnel, & at the above ground pipe manifold within the fenced maintenance area. This will restore the proper operating condition of the HPU System to safely exercise the 48-inch BFV on an annual basis as required by Division of Safety of Dams & will ensure the ability to dewater the reservoir during an emergency. All equipment and work are within the DWR right of way.

The State Water Project provides significant and critical services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves routine maintenance activities. The Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance as this activity will be implemented without any environmental impacts.
