Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number EPIMS-VEN-29667-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the University of California, Santa Barbara.
The Project is limited to minor alterations to land within 16 habitat restoration sites at the Cienega Springs Ecological Reserve along the Santa Clara River. Restoration activities include removal of invasives plant species, grade restoration and removal and/or replacement of culverts to restore hydrologic connectivity, and native vegetation planting.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is consistent with the requirements for a Class 4 exemption, which
consists of minor alterations to the condition of the land, water or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, and scenic trees. This project consists of non-native vegetation removal and planting of native vegetation, as well as minor adjustments to restore flood plain hydrology for the purpose of habitat restoration in Cienega Springs Ecological Reserve. This project will not result in removal of healthy, mature, and scenic trees.
