PG&E is proposing to underground existing electrical facilities in the State Route (SR) 36 right-of-way (ROW) between PM 73.46 and 73.64 (south side of the highway) in Tehama County. Project implementation consists of the following: excavate a 1.5-foot-wide by 1,196-foot-long trench to accommodate a 6-inch conduit; install three splice boxes; and remove existing power pole/replace with riser (i.e., overhead to underground transition pole). The proposed electrical work would require minor brush and tree removal. The purpose of the project is to maintain public safety and provide reliable electric services to PG&E customers. To facilitate maintenance activities, traffic control would be performed during the proposed work. Caltrans would issue an encroachment permit to allow for the proposed work to occur within State right-of-way.
