Document Description
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is proposing to replace an abandoned stock water well with a new stock water well (well). The well will provide water for livestock under the existing water allotment to the ranch lessee. The new well will be operated in compliance with existing groundwater rights. The exact depth of the well will be determined by the lithological and geophysical logs obtained from pilot boreholes. The screen and casing of the well will be a 6-inch high strength low alloy (HSLA) steel pipe. The work area will be approximately 100 ft by 100ft, and laydown will be restricted to existing compacted roads and turnouts.

Reasons for Exemption
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, this project is Categorically Exempt from CEQA review pursuant to Section 15302, Class 2 replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have largely the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, including but not limited to the replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems and/or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. The proposed project meets the requirements of this exemption; therefore, no further CEQA review is required.
