Document Description
Caltrans District 9 is proposing a pavement repair project on State Route (SR) 58 in Kern County. The pavement in the project limits is suffering distress and the purpose of this project is to restore the pavement to a serviceable condition. The proposed project will place a thin overlay (0.10') of gap graded rubberized hot mix asphalt (bonded wearing course), placing shoulder backing up to 3' from the edge of pavement and restriping the new pavement. Digouts are expected to be performed prior to paving. Thermoplastic recessed stripping will be placed as part of the new overlay. All work will be performed within the existing pavement and shoulder backing with no new construction. Guardrail is expected to be replaced in various locations due to new roadway thicknesses. No vegetation or dirt will be disturbed outside the existing pavement, shoulder backing, contractor use areas. All proposed work and contractor staging/use areas are within the exiting disturbed/maintained areas within Caltrans ROW.

With the implementation of Environmental Commitments, no known Environmental resources will be impacted.
