Document Description
The project proposes removal and replacement of existing multizone HVAC equipment to include piping, ductwork, direct digital controls, and electrical services. Additionally, removal and replacement of the existing roof system and insulation, modification of pipe/conduit supports, and rain catchment drainage systems (i.e. downspouts, manhole, storm drains, catch basins) along exterior of the building and north access roadway.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 allows for the rehabilitation of deteriorated facilities to meet current standards of public health and safety, and for the repair and maintenance of existing public structures, facilities, mechanical equipment where it involves no or negligible expansion of use. Metro SH is an historic era facility and contains the Norwalk State Hospital Historic District which meets the criteria for listing in the NRHP and CRHR. However, the CTW Building lies outside of the historic district and the building has been found ineligible as an historic resource through survey evaluation. The State
has confirmed no exceptions to the exemption apply.
