Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide funding for the Lassen Land and Trails Trust (LLTT) for the Bizz Johnson Trailhead Planning project. Working in partnership with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Eagle Lake Field Office, the LLTT will complete designs, CEQA and NEPA environmental compliance analysis, permitting, and pre-construction engineering specifications to improve LLTT and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) properties serving as the primary gateway and visitor welcome center for the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail. The project will enhance the trailhead and old railroad depot building currently used as a visitor center at the eastern terminus of the Bizz Johnson Trail in the town of Susanville. The project will improve the Depot Visitor Center and BLM trailhead by completing a parking and drainage plan, a building reconstruction and restoration plan, a landscape plan, and CEQA and NEPA analyses to enable future implementation. The project area is approximately 9 acres in size and is located along Richmond Road and North Railroad Avenue (approximately 1 mile from Main Street) in Susanville, Lassen County, CA.
