Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would provide funding for the Mariposa County Planning Department to complete planning activities for a 1.85-mile hiking trail, a new trailhead facility, and interpretive signage on approximately 170 acres of county-owned property adjacent to downtown Mariposa and the county’s existing Mariposa Park. The county will engage the community of Mariposa through stakeholder meetings and online surveys and partner with the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation on design elements for the Parkway. The project will also complete multiple design documents, including a trail and facilities plan and landscaping designs. Additionally, required ecological, engineering, and cultural surveys will be completed to enable the county to conduct CEQA analysis for the potential future project implementation. Phase III of the Parkway is part of a larger plan. This Project will expand on the already developed first and second phases of the Parkway, enhancing access along Mariposa Creek to the Mariposa Park.
