Document Description
The project application of work within the Caltrans ROW will consist of reconductoring the line with a spacer cable system (i.e. wires), updating system protection and other equipment as needed, the replacement of 4 wood pole structures with fiberglass, fire-resistant structures, and replacement of guys and anchors. Structure construction and conductor stringing will include cutting and removal of the exiting structures within the Caltrans ROW. New fiberglass poles will be hoisted into place using a line truck and will be placed adjacent to the existing holes (maximum of I-foot offset further from the highway). Anchors will be screwed or hammered into the ground, or potentially installed in a hand or machine dug hole up to 36 inches wide. Anchors will be installed up to 8 to 10 feet deep.

The California Department of Transportation has determined the project to be categorically exempt in accordance with Section 15305 (Minor Alterations in Land Use Limitations) Class 5-Minor Alterations in land use limitations in land use limitations in areas with an average slope of less than 20%, which do not result in any changes in land use or density, including but not limited to:(a) Minor lot line adjustments, side yard, and set back variances not resulting in the creation of any new parcel; (b) Issuance of minor encroachment permits;(c) Reversion to acreage in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act.
