Document Description
On November 15, 2022, the City of Santa Barbara adopted amendments to the Santa
Barbara Municipal Code by Ordinance and by Reference the most current State Building Standards. The
amendments to the Municipal Code result in the following:
• Changing the requirement for a permit for draining at walls that are exempt from a permit.
• Changing permit exemptions for residential retaining walls to include non-retaining walls including
masonry and concrete free-standing walls.
• Changing the number of required Board of Appeals members to have a Quorum from 5 to 4.
• Add provision to facilitate alternate restroom designs.
• Changes to include California’s gender-neutral, single-occupancy restroom law.
