Document Description
The project is limited to the replacement of an existing bridge over North Fork Cache Creek and the demolition of the existing bridge. The replacement structure will be a two-span (balanced) Precast Wide Flange Bridge approximately 220-feet long and 28-feet wide. The new bridge will be supported on an intermediate single column pier and seat-type abutment walls founded on 30-foot and 72-foot cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) concrete piles. The 30-foot drilled piles will be located under each abutment and the 72-foot drilled pile will be located under the center support pier. The new abutments will be constructed in the banks of North Fork Cache Creek, and the new pier in the creek channel. An estimated total of 781 cubic yards of rock slope protection (RSP) with underlying RSP fabric estimated to be 1,024 square yards will placed along the banks of North Fork Cache Creek in the vicinity of the new bridge abutments. Additionally, temporary falsework will be placed in the channel and removed following construction activities. Following construction of the replacement bridge the existing bridge used to convey North Fork Cache Creek will be demolished. The existing bridge is 209-feet long, 16-feet wide and consists of a 5-span simply supported modified steel railroad flatcar frame with timber decking. A creek diversion system will be used to divert flow through the construction zone and dewater the site. Vegetation removal will include impacts to riparian willow species and the removal of two (2) pine trees.
