Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes the emergency repair of eroded abutment fill and a joint seal replacement at Bridge No. 29-0273R on State Route (SR) 120, post mile R2.3, in San Joaquin County. The erosion was caused by a leaking joint seal at the bridge deck and a deficient curb, which channeled water under the slope paving and created a large void in the abutment fill. The scope of work includes backfilling the void with sand slurry, repairing the concrete spalls, replacing the failed joint seal, and repaving the approach to the bridge joint. All work will occur within Caltrans existing Right of Way. The purpose of this project is to immediately stabilize the abutment fill and prevent further erosion damage. The project is needed to prevent entire roadway loss and ensure the safety of the traveling public across the bridge.
