Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes replacing four (4) culverts in Amador County on State Route (SR) 88 at post miles (PM) 54.03, R56.61, R60.77, and R65.74. At PM 54.03, the existing 18” Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) will be replaced with a 24” Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) with Rubberized Gasket Joints (RGJ), the existing Grate Metal Pipe inlet will be replaced with a concrete pipe inlet with steel grate, and a concrete Flared End Section (FES) and Rock Slope Protection (RSP) will be installed at the outlet. At PM R56.61, the existing 18” CSP will be replaced with a 24” RCP with RGJ (or equivalent elliptical concrete pipe 30” x 19”) and a concrete FES will be installed at the outlet. At PM R60.77, the existing 18” CSP will be replaced with a 24” RCP with RGJ (or equivalent elliptical concrete pipe 23” x 14”), and a concrete FES and RSP will be installed at the outlet. At PM R65.74, the existing 30” CSP will be replaced with a 30” RCP with RGJ (or equivalent elliptical concrete pipe 38” x 24”) and a concrete FES will be installed at the outlet. Temporary Construction Easements (TCE) may be required. The purpose of this project is to improve culvert function and flow capacities. The project is needed to extend the service life of SR-88 and ensure motorist safety over these drainages.
