Document Description
The project consists of upgrades to the entrance area of Fort Ross State Historic Park to provide improved facilities for park visitors. Work will: • Repaint, stripe, and redo stencils on the entrance road; • Replace the information kiosk; • Fix or replace the existing fencing, entrance gate/cattle guard, and entrance sign. If needed, excavate a trench to the sign to install an electrical line to power a shielded, down-cast light to illuminate the sign at night; • Repair the existing host kiosk and restroom, rehouse the electrical panel, and relocate the iron ranger fee deposit tube; • Add/construct a new alternative camp horse trailer site; • Trench/extend the existing electrical line from the kiosk to the existing camp host site; • Replace eight (8) culverts throughout the campground; and • Repair the rock armoring along the entrance road where needed.

Project consists of the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels, included as “Utility repairs or minor upgrades” and “Building (non-historical) or fence repairs” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR § 15300.4 ; the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the purpose and capacity as the structure replaced; the construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry or agricultural purposes.
