Reasons for Exemption
The proposed activity is exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301
(Existing Facilities) of the State CEQA Guidelines. Section 15303(a) allows for additions to existing structures where the addition will not increase more than 2,500 square feet of the structure before the addition. Since the proposed project is an addition to an existing home and will not increase the structure more than 2,500 square feet, the exemption is appropriate. The exceptions listed in CEQA Section 15300.2 would not apply in that no cumulative impacts were identified; no significant effect on the environmental were identified; the project is not adjacent to a scenic highway; and the project was not identified on a list of hazardous waste sites pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the Government Code.
