Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to demolish and replace three damaged existing public recreational piers that are managed by the Applicant on Donner Lake, CA. All three piers will undergo similar demolition and construction: An amphibious vessel launched from the public Donner Lake Boat Ramp will navigate to the pier sites. In the event low-water levels result in over-land travel for the amphibious vehicle, 6-foot x 6-foot steel mats shall be available onsite for over-land travel and avoidance of lakebed disturbance. The existing damaged piers are constructed of failing wooden pilings, concrete footings, rusting rebar, and/or steel drums and will be pulled from the lake via a crane mounted atop the amphibious vessel. If pilings are not easily pulled, they will be cut in place as to avoid lakebed disturbance. The demolition materials will be taken back to the boat ramp and then trucked to the Eastern Regional Landfill facility. Temporary disturbance to the lakebed associated with the three pier’s piling removal is 82 cubic feet, 34.6 linear feet, and 40.35 square feet. A total of 0.0008 acres of lakebed will be re-established as a result of this project.
