Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), utilizing State Funds only, is proposing to restore State Route 96 in Siskiyou County from PM 28.0 to 34.5 to a condition that requires minimal maintenance. This Highway Maintenance (HM) dollar job would apply a 0.10' overlay with isolated dig outs over approximately 6.5 miles on State Route 96 in Siskiyou County (PM 28.0/34.5).

Reasons for Exemption
The California Department of Transportation has determined the project to be categorically exempt in accordance with section 15301 (Existing Facilities). Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Caltrans has determined that this project would have negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and would have no significant effect on the environment.
