Document Description
The City of Livermore is preparing the CAP Update as an update to the Livermore 2012 CAP. The CAP Update includes strategies and supportive actions to prepare the community for climate impacts and reduce communitywide GHG emissions. The City is committed to a 3.09 metric tons (MT) of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per capita GHG emissions reduction target (i.e., 68 percent below 1990 levels) by 2030 and a long-term goal of carbon neutrality by 2045. This 2030 GHG emissions goal was selected to be consistent with and exceed California Senate Bill 32 State emissions targets, CEQA, and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District guidelines for a qualified GHG emissions reduction strategy, and to be achievable by City-supported actions identified in the CAP Update. To prepare the community for climate impacts and achieve the Livermore 2030 GHG emissions target, the City has developed 23 CAP Update strategies related to buildings and energy, energy resilience, drought, flooding, extreme heat, wildfires, transportation and land use, materials and waste, carbon sequestration, municipal operations, and implementation.
