Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes replacing three (3) culverts on State Route (SR) 4 at post miles (PM) 19.99, 26.32, and 26.73, in Alpine County. The scope of work at PM 19.99 includes replacing the existing 18" Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) with an 18" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP). The scope of work at PM 26.32 includes replacing the existing 24" CSP with a 30” RCP or equivalent elliptical concrete pipe (38” x 24”). The scope of work at PM 26.73 includes replacing the existing 12” CSP with an 18” RCP or equivalent elliptical concrete pipe (23” x 14”). Flared End Sections and/or Rock Slope Protection may be added at the culvert inlets and/or outlets. Temporary constructions easements may be required. Permanent Right of Way acquisition is not anticipated. The purpose of this project is to improve culvert function and flow capacity. The project is needed to extend the service life of SR-89 and ensure motorist safety over these drainages.
