Document Description
The Project is led by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and proposes to place approximately 100,000 cubic yards of dredged sediment from the Port of Redwood City Operations and Maintenance Project in shallow tidal waters offshore of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Eden Landing Ecological Reserve (Eden Landing). The purpose of the project is to assess the ability of this novel sediment placement technique to transport sediment onto mudflats and marshes in and around Eden Landing, and whether this procedure can increase the efficiency of sediment delivery. The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board jointly prepared with USACE an environmental assessment under the National Environmental Policy Act (42 United States Code Section 4321 et seq.) and an initial study and mitigated negative declaration under the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code Section 21000 et seq.).
