Reasons for Exemption
The project has been reviewed consistent with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and it has been determined that the Project falls within the Class 1 Categorical Exemption set forth in CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) which exempts the establishment of a fitness center because the use would be occurring within an existing structure on a developed property. The Project is characterized as an existing facility that will consist of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond the existing or former use.
The proposed use of a fitness center will make minimal cosmetic modifications to the existing building that operated as storage for antique goods.
