Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), using State funds only, plans to perform maintenance on 10 bridges along State Route 5 in Siskiyou County. The purpose of this project is to perform maintenance on the 10 bridges to extend the useful life of the bridges. The project is needed because the 10 bridges in this project have experienced wear and damage because of traffic and the elements, thus shortening their expected life.

The California Department of Transportation has determined the project to be categorically exempt in accordance with section 15301 (Existing Facilities). Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Caltrans has determined that this project would have negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, and would have no significant effect on the environment.
