Document Description
Project will offer approximately 90 girls from underserved communities in Los Angeles County up to two annual outdoor retreats to the coast, fostering environmental stewardship, encouraging community bonding, developing a sense of self, providing an opportunity for joy and wonder in nature, and incentivizing participation in overall college-access programs. Activities will include group nature hikes, walks at the beach, and watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. There will be tidepools exploration if the tidal conditions are right, and between visits to the beach, there will also be inspirational talks by women leaders that encourage students to reflect on their strengths and set goals for their futures. Participants will spend much of the time outdoors on hikes and at the beach, with a goal of helping our students feel connected with the natural world as a resource they can steward as Californians
