The City of Encinitas would like to designate the large Phoenix canariensis a City of Encinitas Heritage Tree. This designation would preserve a significant Encinitas community resource. The palm tree is located in the Moonlight State Beach cove, in an isolated raised planter bed. Once designated, a plaque would be installed in the planter or adjacent area providing information about the tree and its significance.
