Document Description
The project proposes to lease an existing decommissioned fire station at the San Jose International Airport located at 1433 Airport Boulevard, San Jose, California 95110. The fire station is approximately 27,649 sf and will house approximately 18 personnel daily (16 firefighters and 2 Fire Captains). The fire station will operate year-round with seasonal and permanent employees. The fire crew will serve the south Santa Clara County area and will be relocating from 51 miles southeast (12280 Pacheco Pass Highway) to improve operational fire suppression activities.

This project fits within the above-listed Categorical Exemption listed in the CEQA Guidelines. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. CAL FIRE has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at the CAL FIRE Technical Services office located at 1131 S Street, Sacramento, CA 95811.
