Document Description
The Proposed Project is the issuance of a permit regulating waste discharges from certain land management activities on federal lands in the North Coast Region. The Draft Federal Lands Permit applies to timber harvest and vegetation management, road and trail work, livestock grazing, fire recovery and suppression activities, and recreational facilities management on federal lands. Regional Water Board staff developed the Draft Federal Lands Permit to address lessons learned from implementing the several iterations of the previous permit to regulate nonpoint source discharges on federal lands; changes to the environment; an increasing annual fire regime; new state and federal policies; and other factors that affect the Regional Water Board’s regulation of federal lands.
