Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review and determined that the
project would qualify to be exempt from CEQA pursuant to CEQA Section 15301. Section 15301 applies to exterior alterations of existing facilities with the main consideration being whether the project involves negligible or no expansion of use. The project is making improvements to the existing facility and is not adding any new
condominium units and would not expand the use of the facility. The project is located within the developed footprint of an existing condominium complex and lacks sensitive biological resources. Therefore, since the project would be making improvements to an existing condominium complex without disturbing the ground or expanding the use of the complex it was determined that the CEQA exemptions was appropriate and the
exceptions listed in CEQA Section 15300.2 would not apply.
