Document Description
DWR staff will clear sediment and debris from multiple culverts along the primary and secondary sides of the South Bay Aqueduct. The upstream opening of culverts needing clearing will be cleaned with hand tools or backhoe as necessary. Culverts will be cleaned using a truck with a fire hose connected to a three-inch water pump to inject high pressure raw water towards the downstream side until it is clear of obstructions. Staging will be on existing roadways and equipment shall be removed at the end of each workday. Work is within DWR right of way.

The State Water Project provides significant and critical services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves routine maintenance activities. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. The Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance as this activity will be implemented without any significant environmental impacts.
