Document Description
The proposed project is intended to remove invasive giant reed (Arundo donax) from a 1.85 acre area on the north bank of the Sacramento River and establish native vegetation on the adjacent upland. The project purpose is to restore sandbar habitat which has been identified as potential Delta Smelt spawning habitat. The activity is being conducted as part of required mitigation activities identified in Condition of Approval 8.2 of the Incidental Take Permit (ITP) for the West False River Emergency Drought Salinity Barrier project.

The proposed project is intended to improve spawning habitat conditions for Delta Smelt by removing 1.85 acres of invasive Arundo donax from the riverbank. Total ground disturbance will be less than 5 acres, and potential impacts on rare, threatened, or endangered species will be avoided. None of the exceptions to the exemption apply to the project.
