Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number EPIMS-LAN-23887-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, to the Southern California Edison. The Project is the installation of two new wood poles, 4959826E and 4959827E, and associated Sonotubes. The Sonotubes are a seven-foot by 24-inch diameter column molds (reinforced cardboard tubes) that will be installed at each site, then filled with soil to anchor the poles. Pole 4959826E would be approximately 50 feet tall and Pole 4959827E approximately 45 feet tall. Once the pole is stabilized, the crew will use two boom trucks to access the top portions of each of the poles and pull wire from nearby structures through the new poles. Installation of these poles will reduce wildfire risk and help maintain reliable service. Activities will result in approximately 6.00 cubic yards of soil; equal to approximately 0.02 acres and 8 linear feet of permanent impacts to stream bed, bank, channel, and linear extent of the stream.

Reasons for Exemption
The installation of two additional poles to the existing power lines within the utility corridor will result in minor alterations while providing additional safety in the prevention of wildfires and power outages. The repair, maintenance, and alteration of the existing utility facility will not cause an expansion in service or use. The installation of two poles falls would be new construction of a limited number of small structures to support providing continued utility service to customers.
