Document Description
Replace an existing, failing foot bridge along the Rhododendron Trail in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park to allow for safe public access to and along this trail. Work will: • Set up tarps beneath the existing structure to capture falling debris; • Attach rigging to surrounding trees to assist in the removal of failing materials and the placement of the new trail bridge materials; • Remove the existing decomposed and failing bridge; • Excavate one (1) approx. 2 feet wide by 10 feet long and 4 inches deep on either side of Prairie Creek, for mudsills; • Excavate an additional four (4) 10 feet long by 1 foot wide by 6 inches deep areas, (two (2) per side) for approach ramp retaining wall footings; • Install the new redwood and steel bridge; and • Use excavated fill materials to establish the approach ramp elevations.
