Document Description
Install +/- 240 LF of 2" conduit and a pull rope for a future fiber-optic cable to be placed in. The alignment of the new conduit will need to run across the existing Lake County Museum Park, from an existing splice box near the Law Library to an existing splice box located in the sidewalk along the west side of N. Main Street. A conduit exists under N. Main Street, from the west side splice box to a spice box located in the sidewalk along the east side of N. Main Street outside of SDA's office. No new conduit will need to be installed between the existing splice boxes along N. Main Street. An additional+/- 15' section of new conduit will need to be installed, from the splice box outside of SD's office to SDA's basement. Two sections of existing sidewalk, one on either side of N. Main Street, will need to be removed and replaced to install the new conduit. Replaced sidewalk will need to be constructed per the City of Lakeport's construction standards. The most efficient and cost effective way to achieve this is to install the conduit by the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method as opposed to the open trench method. The HDD method will utilize modern equipment which does not require any excavation for a starting or landing pit. The equipment will tilt up and drill directly into the soil and be steered to avoid buildings and potential obstacles within the park. Work in the sidewalk to connect to the splice boxes will require minimal excavation in a previously disturbed area through aggregate base to place conduit for the future fiber optic cable. Work within the City of Lakeport will require that the contractor obtain a business license from the City. A City of Lakeport encroachment permit will also be required for this project. Special Districts will obtain the encroachment permit prior to the start of construction. A historical concrete retailing wall, that runs along the back of the sidewalk on the west side of N. Main Street will be preserved and protected during construction.
