Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) using state funds, proposes to construct gateway monuments on State Route (SR) 139 Post Mile (PM) 23.1 and SR 395 PM 35. The project will beautify locations in Modoc County, promote local features, and provide infrastructure beautification for the local community. The Modoc County community lacks gateway monuments informing drivers they have entered the county on various routes. In addition, the project includes beautification of the Pit River Bridge (03-0023) on SR 395 PM 21.9, which could include painting or decals or the bridge rail footing and art elements near the bridge abutments but not attached to the bridge. The existing Pit River Bridge on SR 395 in Alturas has little aesthetic value to the city and does not enhance the beauty of the community.
