Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Sec. 15301(b)(3)
Reasons for Exemption
The project consists of maintenance of an existing basketball court, and the addition of one court into an adjoining grass playing field that is currently used for recreation and contains no natural resources. The project is exempt from CEQA because it is covered by the general rule that CEQA applies only to projects which have the potential for causing a significant effect on the environment (CEQA Guidelines Sec. 15061(b)(3)). The addition of a 90-foot by 50-foot basketball court will result in a minor change to the environment, and therefore it is certain that it has no possibility of a significant effect on the environment.
