Document Description
The California Department of Transportation proposes to install standard bridge approach railings, safety barriers or crash cushions at three bridge locations in Kern and Fresno counties. Bridges include the Helm Canal Bridges (42-0033) and the Colony Main Canal Bridge (42-0031) on State Route 33 in Fresno County near Firebaugh and the Buttonwillow Main Drain Canal Bridge (50-0013) on State Route 58 in Kern County.

The project is exempt under section 15301; CLASS 1: EXISTING FACILITIES consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public facilities, involving no expansion of an existing use. The project proposes to install standard approach railing, safety barrier or crash cushions as needed. All construction activities will be with in our State Right-of-Way. No additional right of way is required. Furthermore, the project will not have a significant effect on the environmental resources.
