Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes upgrading the Traffic Management System (TMS) equipment at nine (9) locations in San Joaquin (SJ) County on State Route (SR) 99, between post miles 28.4 and 29.7 (see Continuation sheet). The scope of work at Locations 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, and 9, includes replacing existing Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS) with loops. Trenching will be required to install new cabinets/boxes and conduit. At Locations 6, 7, and 8, existing loops and electrical cabinets will be replaced. Trenching may be required when installing new cabinets. At Location 1 and 4, Temporary Construction Easements may be required. The purpose of this project is to improve real-time communication of traffic conditions to both Caltrans and the traveling public. The project is needed to improve transportation management and ensure safe operation of the State Highway System.
