Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt under Class 1, Existing Facilities, having met the qualifying criteria provided under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(a). The interior improvements to the existing International House would include fire sprinkler system, elevator, seismic and ADA improvements.
All improvements would be consistent with the current use of the existing building and would involve no expansion of that use. Moreover the project would not result in any of the effects set forth in the CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 Exemptions, items (a) through (f). Accordingly, the project would qualify for a categorical exemption under Class 1 criterion (a).
