Document Description
Project will pave a portion of Howland Hill Road in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park to provide safe passage for buses bringing school kids to the existing Howland Hill Outdoor School. Work will excavate a maximum of 6 inches deep by up to 30 feet wide along the existing road prism to pave approximately 1600 feet of the existing road alignment.

The project consists of the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing public or private structures or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels, included as “Trail or road repairs” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR § 15300.4; the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same propose and capacity as the structure replaced; and the minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, water and/or vegetation which does not involve the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry or agricultural purposes.
