Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-LAN-28868-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Los Angeles County – Department of Beaches and Harbors. The purpose of this project is to conduct maintenance by removing sediment and debris build up from the underpass road that serves as public access to Zuma Beach. The project area is limited to 0.2 acres of the existing access road that runs parallel to an unnamed drainage. The project activities will be conducted annually from December 1 to March 31. The project area will be surveyed after storm events to determine if sediment and debris has been deposited on the access road. Any accumulation of sediment and debris will be scraped from the existing road and disposed of off-site.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 addresses operation, maintenance, repair, or minor alteration of existing facilities or topographical features. Included in this exemption are existing highways and streets, sidewalks, gutters, bicycle and pedestrian trails, and similar facilities. The removal of sediment buildup will not expand the use of the existing road and consists of clearing the road for the purpose of public access.
