Document Description
The limits of the project are Melinda Road from Olympiad Road to Santa Margarita Parkway, approximately 1.0 miles in length. Work will be within the existing City right-of-way. The existing pavement has been determined to need rehabilitation according to the City of Mission Viejo Pavement Management Program Final Report dated 2016. The proposed improvements consist of a removal depth of AC planning (cold milling or grinding) of the AC pavement of 0.125 to 0.333 feet (1.5-4 inches) below the proposed surface and reconstruction of AC pavement of the new ARHM overlay within the existing City right-of-way. Additional work includes reconstruction of ADA-compliant concrete wheel-chair access ramps with truncated domes and concrete sidewalk, PCC curb and gutter, restriping, replacement of traffic signal loops, and adjusting-to-grade utility covers (only within street being rehabilitated) matching new ARHM pavement surface. The proposed improvements will resolve the pavement’s deteriorating level of service, reduce maintenance routines along this segment of the street and ultimately increase the pavement’s life cycle, and will result in the safe utilization of parking lanes and bicycle lanes. All improvements will be constructed within the City of Mission Viejo right-of-way, and will not include revegetation or landscaping. There will not be any equipment staging within the project limits.

Proposed construction activities will be no more disturbing than current activities in the existing urban environment the trees adjacent to the project area.
