Document Description
The Sweetwater Parking and Day Use Improvements project would grind and replace asphalt surfaces including minor expansion of the paved surface including the construction of accessible parking stalls. The project would install non-leaching toilet facilities. A picnic area would be constructed adjacent to the parking facility including shade structures and picnic tables. All new facilities will have accessible pathways. Additionally, gates would be installed to control vehicle access. Measures to avoid impact and/or further project detail may be obtained by submitting a request to the project Environmental Coordinator listed below.

Reasons for Exemption
This park improvement project is typical and necessary to meet growing visitation of a regular multi-use area of the park. With careful assessment and execution, the project will have no anticipated negative impacts to the environment. : No potential for significant impact to the environment is anticipated in compliance with CEQA §15300.2. If the project is implemented as indicated within the project description including comments provided by CDPR specialists, then it is exempt under CEQA §15301 - Existing Facilities, §15303- New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures, and § 15311 - Accessory Structures. The action falls under the Departmental List of Exempt activities according to CEQA §15300.4 as: • 'Trail or road repairs" (Class 1, Section 15301 ); and • "Construction or installation of park facilities such as ... restrooms" (Class 3, Section 15303); and • "Construction or installation of additional public use facilities ... picnic tables" (Class 11, Section 15311)
