Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number EPIMS-TRI-31765-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, as represented by Debra Hawk. Decommissioning of the diversion consists of filling an open-ditch conveyance built into the south bank of the Pit River with cobbles and earthen material originally displaced by creation of the diversion. A small, tracked excavator will access the site via an existing road/trail system and pull existing native bank materials and boulders back into place along an approximately ten to twelve-foot segment of riverbank. Restoring the bank segment will require placement of approximately 30-50 cubic feet of material. Once the initial placement of material seals off the diversion and flow of water, additional displaced native material may be used to continue filling the canal to discourage future use. A corrugated metal pipe culvert within the canal will also be removed once it is naturally dewatered.
