Document Description
The County of Sonoma proposes to fund vegetation management work in the Summerhome Park community in western Sonoma County. Project work will occur within 100 feet of roads and structures in the project area. The project entails understory fuel reduction that will occur to reduce the volume of flammable vegetation in the project area. Vegetation and trees to be removed will be cut at grade, with stumps remaining in place. Vegetation removal will occur using mechanical methods, via heavy equipment and handcrews with chainsaws. Heavy equipment will remain along the road prism or already disturbed areas and no ground disturbing activities will occur. Slash and debris will be disposed of onsite via mulching or lop and scatter. Work will not occur in areas of special status species, critical habitat, wetlands, sensitive natural communities or other sensitive resources. A fuel reduction prescription has been developed by a Registered Professional Forester.
