Document Description
Increased flows in Donner Creek due to an October 24, 2021 storm event caused an approximately 8-foot section of buried sanitary sewer to become partially exposed. The Project will utilize a ‘protect-in-place’ practice that will armor the exposed pipeline with an articulating concrete mat installed on gravel bags. Gravel bags will be placed directly adjacent to, and on top, of the exposed sewer pipeline to protect it from direct contact with the concrete mats. Gravel bags will be constructed of photo-resistant materials and will filled with clean gravel. Gravel bags will be installed by hand. A crane will be on-site to hoist and install the articulating concrete mats over the pipeline and gravel bags. Crane staging will occur from a paved location and will not result in any temporary upland impacts. One custom made articulated mat is proposed to be installed over the pipeline and it will not require anchoring. The Project does not propose any excavation or other physical disturbance of Donner Creek.
