Document Description
The project is limited to the Oak Canyon Community Park Pond Restoration project (Project) on Medea Creek, which is tributary to Malibu Creek. The park area was burned during the Woolsey Fire in 2018, and during subsequent winter rains, sediment, ash, and debris washed down into and filled the ponds, culvert and Medea Creek channel. Vegetation grew in the previously open water habitat of the ponds because of the sedimentation. Additionally, the culvert and Medea Creek channel were altered by the deposition of sediment and debris. The purpose of the Project is to restore the pond, culvert, and Medea Creek channel to the pre-Woolsey fire condition. The Project consists of six components, including pond repair, fishing pier and pump system repair, Medea Creek cleanout north and south of the culvert, Medea Creek channel cleanout, creation of a rock wall, and wetland restoration around the pond.
