Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to install new, replace, or upgrade existing outdated Transportation Management Systems (TMS) elements to more reliable and efficient technologies to meet current Caltrans standards, and to provide safe maintenance vehicle access to these facilities. The project proposes 49 locations along Interstate 5 and State Routes 33, 99, 108, 120 and 132 in San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. TMS elements will include TMS elements such as closed circuit television cameras, internet protocol cameras, roadside weather information systems, changeable message signs, and vehicle detection systems. In addition, some maintenance vehicle pullout would be installed and some guardrails would be updated at various locations.

This project is exempt under CEQA Section 15306 Class 6 Information Collection as the project is to install new, replace or upgrade existing outdated Transportation Management System elements to more reliable and efficient technologies to meet current Caltrans standards, and to provide safe maintenance vehicle access to these facilities. The project will not affect any sensitive species or their habitats, cultural resources, or any other environmentally sensitive resources.
