Document Description
The proposed project will replace an existing automotive lift with a new automotive lift located within an existing shop building that was constructed in 1968. The shop building is 20-feet wide, 16-feet high, and 40-feet long. The existing automotive lift is within a concrete foundation and is 18-inches wide, 10-feet deep, and 20-feet long. Excavation will occur to fit the new automotive lift that is 5-feet wide, 3-feet deep, and 15-feet long. The existing concrete will be cut to fit the new footprint of the lift, and the excess material will be removed with an excavator. The concrete removal will be accomplished within one day.

This project fits under portions of This project fits under the Class 1 Categorical Exemption §15301 (Existing Facilities) as it is the minor alteration of an existing facility (concrete slab foundation). Project activities will occur within previously disturbed areas (area of existing automotive lift). The areas where new ground disturbing activities might occur are limited and are best described as minor in scope. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply that would preclude the use of a notice of exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, energy, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, populations and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/ traffic, utilities and service systems, or to wildfire. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at CAL FIRE’s Sutter Hill Station in Sutter Creek.
