Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a highway maintenance project to cold plane 0.15 foot and place 0.15 foot of Hot Mix Asphalt on State Route (SR) 89 in Alpine County, near Markleevile from Mono County line to SR 4 and from SR 88 to El Dorado County line. The scope of work would include Cold planing of the highway and back-fill with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) prior to the overlay, installation of shoulder backing, and removal of white/yellow striping and pavement markings. Existing utilities such as drainage inlets, utility manholes, valve covers, and survey monuments will be adjusted to grade as needed. The purpose of the proposed project is to repair areas of failing or damaged pavement and to extend the service life of SR 89. The project is needed to prevent further deterioration of the paved highway surface. Construction will occur on existing paved surfaces and improved shoulders areas within Caltrans right of way.
