Document Description
The project consists of grazing goats and installing temporary livestock fencing. Surface soils will not be disturbed. Work is proposed to occur when approved and personnel are available. The project is designed to utilize livestock to control the site’s vegetative growth and keep the area open, maintained, and better prepared in the case of wildfire. Small electric sheep/goat containment fencing would be installed as to successfully graze and contain goats on site. Grazing of parcel is expected to take 10 days or less. NEU Environmental Scientist will monitor work through all stages of implementation.

This project fits under portions of Class 4 (Minor Alterations to Land). After completing an environmental assessment, the Department has determined this project will have no significant impact on the environment. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, energy, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, utilities and service systems, or to wildfire. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at the Nevada-Yuba-Placer Headquarters in Auburn.
