Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 3 California Code of Regulations, title 14, division 6, chapter 3, article 19, section 15303
Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project consists of drilling, installing, developing and equipping a new well to replace a similar abandoned well. The well contractor will be required to comply with all applicable permits and to install noise attenuation barrier around the well site. The project has been determined to have no potential to cause significant adverse effects on the environment and will have the same purpose and capacity as the abandoned well. Therefore, the project is exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15303: New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures. None of the exceptions listed in section 15300.2 of the CEQA Guidelines would apply to the proposed Project.
